MELISSA MORAN

Named 2018 WPSLA Coach of the Year, Melissa Moran is entering her second year coaching at Chartiers Valley. She is currently a senior at Duquesne University, originally from Syracuse, NY,  and has lived in Pittsburgh for the last year and a half.  Growing up, sports were always a big part of her life.  She started playing basketball at the age of five and lacrosse at the age of seven and continued both through high school.  Her hometown is a large lacrosse community, so she was fortunate enough to play lacrosse year-round from a very young age.  During her career, she has experienced lacrosse in many forms including 5 v 5 leagues, camps, tournaments, fall ball, indoor and outdoor season and many weather elements.  After being a part of a high school State Championship team her senior year, she graduated high school and went on to play at Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY.  During her two years at Monroe, her team earned 2 NJCAA National Championships, one of which she co-captained.   After playing at MCC, she transferred to the University of Pittsburgh and played the fall semester on the club team.   She then transferred to NCAA Division I Duquesne University, where she completed her playing career.

Outside of school and lacrosse, Melissa enjoys staying in close contact with her family and is even a new aunt.  Aside from lacrosse, football is a sport about which she is passionate.  She even managed her high school football team for two years!!   Melissa is a person of action and adventure and enjoys anything that is new and exciting.

JESSICA HEULER

Jessica Heuler is also returning as part of the Chartiers Valley coaching staff. She started her lacrosse career as a freshman at Greensburg Central Catholic High School.  She played all four years and during the summer of her junior year of high school, she had the opportunity to play with the 2012 Pittsburgh Intrepid Lacrosse team.  Also throughout high school summers she participated in numerous university lacrosse camps in and out of state.  She ended her senior year as captain of the varsity team.

Jessica continued her lacrosse career throughout college.  She started her colligate career playing Division II club lacrosse at Grand Valley State University (GVSU).  After transferring to Saint Vincent College (SVC) her sophomore year, she joined the NCAA Division III SVC Women’s Varsity Lacrosse team.  The Lady Bearcats had the opportunity to play in the Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) where they were named the PAC champions in 2014.  The conference then expanded into the Ohio River Athletic Conference (ORLC) the following year in which the Lady Bearcats again were named the ORLC champions in 2015.

Outside of lacrosse, Jessica loves spending time outdoors.  She helps care for the family farm where they own a herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle, two horses and barn cats.  She enjoys riding her horse and one of her favorite things to do is trial ride through the woods.  After out on the trail, she also enjoys snuggling on the couch with her Bernses Mountain Dog.
